Why Your Keurig Needs Third Wave Water

March 04, 2021 1 min read 3 Comments

Many of you have called and emailed asking if Third Wave Water is compatible with your Keurig®. Short answer: YES! Not only CAN you use it, but you SHOULD. Here’s why!

Your Keurig® needs Third Wave Water like Taylor needs biscuits and gravy. Plus, like all cups of joe using TWW, it makes your coffee taste better. Though Keurig’s instant cups of coffee are amazing when you’re dashing out the door, the Keurig® machine can easily backup and clog with grime and scale. Scaling happens when mineral particles from hard water react to high temperatures, which forces them out of their harmless state and make them bond to nearby surfaces. After a while, a limestone-like layer builds up and we have scaling on your Keurig®. This causes several frustrations: Water flow is decreased, properly measuring a cup is difficult, and eventually your Keurig® can back up completely. Not an ideal situation.

Third Wave Water is better than bottled and filtered water because our mineral profiles do not contain calcium bicarbonate, which is what eventually causes scaling. Instead, Third Wave Water’s three ingredients are three natural minerals: Magnesium Sulfate, Calcium Citrate, and Sodium. Following the instructions on Third Wave Water’s capsules (and using distilled water) removes any traces of chemicals and unwanted minerals.

Your cup of coffee will not only taste amazing using TWW Classic Profile, it will extend the life of your Keurig®. Win, win!

@Jack: Brandon with Third Wave Water here! Calcium tends to emphasize more chocolatey and creamy notes, whereas Magnesium will help brighten the fruity and floral notes in your coffee. Both help with the extraction of your coffee which is why they’re both present in our formula. We use the particular types of Calcium and Magnesium so as to not cause any limescale to buildup in your Keurig.

Send me an email at brandon@thirdwavewater.com if you have any questions!

How much is it? Also is it 1 packet per gal of distilled water?

What is the purpose of the Calcium Citrate vs the Magnesium Sulfate, do you need both?

Thanks
